Job Description
This position will conduct fundamental company and industry research in one or more assigned sectors in order to generate effective equity investment recommendations. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Regularly monitor industry developments and trends as well as track and evaluate both absolute and relative valuations within the sector. 

Identify the crucial drivers of shareholder value creation in the healthcare and other assigned sectors.

Advise portfolio managers and equity strategy managers of new investment recommendations and changes in existing recommendations in a timely manner.

Create and maintain financial models and perform financial ratio and valuation analysis on companies using Excel, Bloomberg and other resources.

Collect and evaluate information relative to trends and developments in assigned sectors utilizing sell-side research, Bloomberg, trade publications and online resources.

Attend sell-side analyst meetings and company presentations.

Actively participate in the due diligence and selection process for mutual funds.

Assist in writing timely letters describing current market conditions and our investment recommendations.

Prepare written research reports and make presentations to the Director of Research (DoR) and Portfolio Managers/Equity Strategy Managers.

Respond to inquiries from Equity Strategy Managers and Portfolio Managers.

Participate in Portfolio Managers Committee and Trust Investment Committee meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Economics required.  MBA or CFA/progress toward CFA preferred.

Minimum 2 years of experience as a sell-side or buy-side equity research analyst or investment banking analyst required.

Experience analyzing equities in one or more sectors.

Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.  

Requires the ability to explain complex concepts in easy-to-understand ways and to quickly synthesize new information. 

Strong computer skills, ability to use spread sheets.  Bloomberg experience a plus.

This position requires regular travel by car to various locations throughout the Bank's Chicago market. Occasional out-of-state travel may be required.

Monday-Friday 8 AM to 5 PM. Additional hours may be required based on department needs.
