Job Description
This position is a credit management, lending and sales position working with First American Bank’s commercial real estate customers within the Commercial Loan Department. The Commercial Real Estate Officer will have a defined authority for loan approval and shall have the authority to deny any loan.


Responsible for originating new loans, initial underwriting of new loan requests, loan reviews and the oversight of loan closings. 

Independently interact and respond with a specific portfolio of clients, including attendance at meetings outside of the office.

Independently manage a specific portfolio of loans, including performing Real Estate Evaluations through active site inspections.

Responsible for the collection of loans, review of overdrawn accounts and loan workouts.

Review and facilitate construction payouts.

Underwrite term loans for the acquisition or refinance of commercial real estate properties and also underwrite construction loans.

Create loan write-ups for new loan requests or loan reviews.

Manage the collection process of delinquent loans including: issuance of demand letters, deciding to file foreclosure complaints, authorizing appointment of receivers, disposition of foreclosed properties.

Provide guidance and direction to the Commercial Real Estate Loan Analysts through the allocation of work and management of their training.

Bachelor's degree required, with a concentration in finance/accounting preferred. 

Minimum of two years of banking experience, preferably working in a Commercial Real Estate Loan Department. Finance and/or accounting background a plus.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary in order to interact with senior management and provide First American Bank customers with a superior level of service.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel). In addition, a strong knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software is required.

Typical hours are Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be required based on department need.
